Rocket Δv Budget Estimator

Estimate how much Δv a rocket stage can deliver using the Tsiolkovsky rocket equation. Add up to 3 stages and compare to common mission targets (very approximate).

Targets are rough “order-of-magnitude” values.
Used if “Custom target” is selected.
Δv ignores gravity/drag losses unless you include them in the target. Masses are in kg. Isp in seconds.
Educational estimator, not a mission planner.

Stages

Stage 1
Sea-level engines: ~250–320 s.
Mass before burn.
Mass after burn (dry + remaining + upper stages).
Stage 2
Vacuum engines: ~320–380 s.
0 disables the stage.
Must be less than m₀.
Stage 3
0 disables the stage.
Optional kick stage.
Must be less than m₀.
How we calculate

Tsiolkovsky rocket equation: Δv = Isp × g₀ × ln(m₀/mᶠ), where g₀ = 9.80665 m/s². Stage Δv values are summed.
